| 설명 | 간질이란 뇌조직의 병변 또는 기능적인 장애로 인하여 발작적으로 신경기능장애를 일으켜 여러 가지 신경증상, 즉 돌발적인 의식상실, 경련, 정신 또는 감각장애를 일으키는 병이다. 대발작이란 발작의 가장 심한 형태로 환자는 의식을 소실하고 넘어지게 되어 우선 온몸의 근육이 수축을 하는 긴장기(tonic phase)가 있고 다음으로 근육이 수축과 이완을 빨리 반복하는 간대기(clonic Phase)가 이어진다. 발작기 사이에는 의식의 소실과 자율신경의 이상으로 침을 많이 흘리고 대, 소변을 지리는 수도 있다. 3~5분간 지속하고 발작후에 깊은 잠에 빠지는 수가 많다. 대개 조짐(aura-발작하기전에 환자가 느끼는 이상한 기분, 신체적 증상)가 있어서 환자가 발작하는 것을 예감한다고 한다. |

| 설명 | Absence seizure라고도 함. 간질의 한 종류로 특징적인 의식소실이 나타난다. 의식소실은 잠깐이며, 그 증상이 나타난 이후에 특별한 다른 증상을 호소하지 않아 마치 잠깐 조는 것처럼 보인다. 만약, 택시운전사같은 직업적인 이유가 있으면, 반드시 치료해야 하며, 먼저 이런 간질에 의해 큰 지장을 받지 않는 직업을 택해야 하는 것이 중요하다. 치료는 항간질제를 오랫동안 복용해야 하며, 치료후 재발도 높고, 치료중단시 대발작으로 발전할 수 있다. |

| 설명 | 눈을 한곳에 고정시킨 채, 관찰할 수 있는 주변공간을 시야라 한다. 시야를 검사하는 가장 간단한 방법은 대면검사(confronting test)이다. 이것은 피검사자의 눈을 검사자의 눈에 맞추어 보도록 하여 눈을 고정시킨채, 검사자가 손가락끝을 위쪽, 아래쪽, 왼쪽, 오른쪽, 그리고 비스듬히 경사진 곳 등으로 옮겨보아 피검사자가 관찰할 수 있는지 여부를 정하는 검사법이다. 이보다 정확한 검사법은 자동식 컴퓨터시야검사법이 있다. 대개, 눈자체의 이상이 있어도 시야검사에서 이상이 나오지만, 이외 뇌의 이상으로 시각의 형성경로에 이상이 있어도 역시 이상소견을 보인다. |
