| trigeminal caudal nucleus | The caudal portion of the nucleus of the spinal trigeminal tract (trigeminal nucleus, spinal), a nucleus involved with pain and temperature sensation. (12 Dec 1998) |

| vestibular nucleus | One of a group of four main nuclei that includes: the lateral vestibular nucleus (Deiters' nucleus), medial vestibular nucleus (Schwalbe's nucleus), superior vestibular nucleus (Bechterew's nucleus), and inferior vestibular nucleus, located in the lateral region of the hindbrain beneath the floor of the rhomboid fossa. They receive primary fibres of the vestibular nerve, are reciprocally connected with the flocculonodular lobe of the cerebellum, and project by way of the medial longitudinal fasciculus to the abducens, trochlear, and oculomotor nuclei and to the ventral horn of the spinal cord. The lateral vestibular nucleus projects to the ipsilateral ventral horn of the spinal cord by the vestibulospinal tract. Synonym: nucleus vestibularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| medial vestibular nucleus | Nucleus vestibularis medialis. See: vestibular nucleus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| superior vestibular nucleus | One of a group of four main nuclei that includes: the lateral vestibular nucleus (Deiters' nucleus), medial vestibular nucleus (Schwalbe's nucleus), superior vestibular nucleus (Bechterew's nucleus), and inferior vestibular nucleus, located in the lateral region of the hindbrain beneath the floor of the rhomboid fossa. The lateral vestibular nucleus projects to the ipsilateral ventral horn of the spinal cord by the vestibulospinal tract. Synonym: nucleus vestibularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| inferior vestibular nucleus | Nucleus vestibularis inferior. See: vestibular nucleus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lateral vestibular nucleus | Nucleus vestibularis lateralis. See: vestibular nucleus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| anaesthesia, caudal | Epidural anaesthesia administered via the sacral canal. (12 Dec 1998) |
| caudal | <anatomy> Denoting a position more toward the cauda or tail, than some specified point of reference, same as inferior, in human anatomy. (18 Nov 1997) |
| caudal anaesthesia | Regional anaesthesia by injection of local anaesthetic solution into the epidural space via the sacral hiatus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| caudal canal | The space occupied by the sacral extension of the epidural space. (05 Mar 2000) |
| caudal flexure | The bend in the lumbosacral region of the embryo. Synonym: sacral flexure. (05 Mar 2000) |
| caudal ligament | Fibrous bands, remnants of the notochord, that extend from the skin to the coccyx, forming the coccygeal foveola. Synonym: retinaculum caudale, caudal ligament, ligamentum caudale. (05 Mar 2000) |
| caudal neuropore | The temporary opening at the extreme caudal end of the neural tube in early embryos; closes at the 25th somite stage. Synonym: posterior neuropore. (05 Mar 2000) |
| caudal neurosecretory system | urohypophysis |
| caudal pancreatic artery | Origin, splenic artery near the left gastroepiploic; distribution, the tail of the pancreas; anastomoses, with other pancreatic arteries. Synonym: arteria caudae pancreatis, caudal pancreatic artery. (05 Mar 2000) |
