| 설명 | 항문-요도 등 관모양기관을 에워싸고 배출을 조절하는 근육. 민무늬근-가로무늬근, 또는 수의근-불수의근으로 인체의 특정 부분의 열기 닫기에 관여하는 고리 모양의 근육을 말하는데, 그 수축과 이완에 의해 개폐작용을 한다. 동공의 수축에 관계하는 동공조임근, 음식물을 위 속에 저장하는 들문조임근과 날문조임근, 항문을 항상 오므리고 있는 속항문조임근과 바깥항문조임근 등이 있다. |

| velopharyngeal sphincter | A constant band of the superior pharyngeal constrictor muscle which sweeps posteriorly from the anterolateral part of the superior surface of the palatine aponeurosis. It creates a visible ridge when the superior constrictor is contracted, meeting the elevated soft palate to seal off the pharyngeal isthmus during swallowing.
