Abstaining from eating meat. Vegans exclude all animal products (eg, butter, eggs, milk) from their diets. Ovo-lacto-vegetarians abstain from meat and fish, but drink milk and eats eggs. Fruitarians eat only fruit, nuts, etc. Often vegetarians are people who object to killing and eating animals on ethical grounds. Others because of medical conditions. Support goes through phases in history and is practised by Hindus and Buddhists.
