[EC 2.7.1.28] an enzyme of the transferase class that catalyzes the phosphorylation of glyceraldehyde to form glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate. The reaction occurs in the liver and is part of the series funneling fructose into the Embden-Meyerhof pathway. Called also triose kinase.
