| 설명 | 너비가 넓은 벨트로 된 바닥을 모터로 회전시키고, 그 위를 회전방향과 반대방향으로 걷거나 뛰는 장치. 에르고미터(ergometer)의 하나이다. 정확하게는 motor driven treadmill이라고 한다. 작업량은 체중×이동거리(보행 또는 주행거리)에 거의 비례한다고 하지만, 자전거 에르고미터만큼 정확한 수치가 얻어지지 않으므로, 작업량 그 자체를 알기 위해서는 거의 사용되지 않는다. 보행이나 주행은 특별히 연습을 필요로 하지 않는 작업이므로, 작업부하에 수반되는 생체의 기능을 측정할 때의 작업부하용으로, 사람뿐만 아니라 동물에도 널리 사용된다. 작업부하 조건은 벨트바닥의 이동 속도를 바꾼다거나 바닥의 경사를 바꿈으로써 조절한다. 원형은 감옥 내에서 징벌로 죄수에게 밟게 한 수레에서 비롯되었다고 한다. |

| exercise asthma | <chest medicine> A disease process that is characterised by paradoxical narrowing of the bronchi (lung passageways) making breathing difficult. Treatment includes bronchodilators which are given orally or delivered as an aerosol (inhaled). Corticosteroids are reserved for more difficult cases. Symptoms include wheezing, difficulty breathing (particularly exhaling air) and tightness in the chest.
