    초원심 침강 평형법의 응용이며 특히 생체 고분자계의 연구에 사용되는 방법. 저분자의 용액이라도 초원심력장에 장시간 놓으면 저분자의 농도 분포에 침강 평형이 발생하고 액면에서 밑바닥을 향하여 농도를 증가시켜 일정한 밀도 경사가 생긴다. 이 용액에 고분자가 존재하면 고분자의 침강과 확산이 균형이 잡힌 침강 평형과 동시에 고분자의 용액 내 밀도와 용매의 밀도가 같은 존재하게 된다. 그 위치에서 고분자의 용액 내 밀도와 용매의 밀도가 같은 위치에 분자가 집중하여 존재하게 된다. 그 위치에서 고분자의 용액 속에서의 부유 밀도를 구할 수 있고 그 위치를 중심으로 한 농도 분포의 확산에서 분자량을 구할 수 있다.
