| 설명 | 소리의 진동을 전기적 신호로 바꾸어 신경을 통해 대뇌에 전달하는 기관. 즉 소리를 느끼는 기관으로 달팽이 모양으로 생겼다. ◈소리를 느끼는 과정- 외부에서 들어온 소리는 이개에서 일단 모여 외이도를 통해서 고막으로 전달이 된다. 고막은 소리(소리란 공기의 진동에 의해서 생기는 것이다)에 따라 진동을 하게 된다. 이 진동은 귓속뼈이라는 3개의 작은 뼈를 진동시킨다. 3개의 귓바퀴는 각각 망치뼈, 모루뼈, 등자뼈로 망치뼈는 고막에 부착되어 있다. 등자뼈는 소리를 느끼는 달팽이 모양의 기관인 달팽이의 작은 구멍인 안뜰창에 연결이 된다. 즉 고막의 진동은 귓속뼈를 거쳐서 소리를 느끼는 기관인 달팽이에 전달이 된다. 달팽이는 속에 외림프(perilymph)와 내림프(endolymph)라는 액체로 차있고 이것은 안뜰창의 진동에 따라 움직이게 된다. 이 액체들의 움직임에 따라 역시 당팽이속의 기관인 코르티기관(organ of Corti)의 작은 털이있는 세포의 털을 진동시키고 털세포는 털의 움직임을 전기적 신호로 바꾸어 청신경을 통해서 뇌로 전달한다. |

| 설명 | 귓속에서 평형감각을 맡고 있는 기관. 관자뼈 바위의 속귀에 있으며 막성 반고리관과 골뼈반고리관이 있다. 전자는 평형감각기의 일부이고, 후자는 그것을 수용하고 있는 똑같은 모양의 뼈관이다. 막성 반고리관은 폐쇄된 주머니로 되어 있고, 세 개의 관으로 이루어진다. 이 관들은 전-후-외측반고리관이라고 하며, 어느 것이나 모두 C자형으로서 각각 양끝에서 난형낭으로 열려 있다. 이 개구부에는 각 관에 하나씩 팽대부가 있고 이 팽대부 내면의 C자형 팽대능선 부분에 감각상피가 배열되어 있다. 전반고리관은 관자뼈 바위의 긴 축에 직각 방향으로, 후반고리관은 그 긴 축에 평행 방향, 외측반고리관은 바깥쪽으로 수평으로 돌출해 있다. 반고리관의 굵기는 지름 약 0.3~0.5mm로서 관의 내부에는 림프액이 차 있는데, 몸이 회전하면 림프액은 흘러서 감각상피를 자극한다. 뼈반고리관은 막성 반고리관의 4~5배 굵기이고, 각각 앞-뒤-가쪽뼈반고리관으로 나뉜다. 이들 관은 다섯 개의 개구가 안뜰으로 열려 있고, 그 안뜰에 난형낭과 구형낭이 들어 있다. |

| 설명 | 입에서 항문에 이르는 음식의 소화-흡수에 관여하는 관상 또는 확대되어 낭상으로 된 부분의 총칭. 소화기관 중 소화샘을 제외한 것이다. 고등척추동물에서는 구강→인두→식도→들문→위→날문→작은창자(샘창자→돌창자)→큰창자(잘룩창자→곧창자)→항문까지 하나로 잊는 관으로 작은창자 말단부와 큰창자가 시작되는 곳의 접점에는 막창자이 연결된다. 구강에서 위에 이르는 소화관의 전반부에서는 ① 음식의 섭취와 그 확보, ② 씹는 일, ③ 음식의 저류가 이루어지는 데, 소화는 구강 안에서의 침 속의 프티알린에 의한 녹말 일부의 분해, 위에서의 펩신에 의한 단백질 일부의 분해뿐이며, 흡수는 알코올 및 알코올에 녹은 물질이 위벽에서 흡수될 뿐이다. |

| 설명 | 척추에서 척수가 내려가는 통로. 이외에도 신경이 지나가는 막힌 통로에 해당하는 곳은 모두 신경관으로 부른다. 예를 들어 손의 감각과 운동을 담당하는 자뼈신경(ulnar nerve)이 지나가는 곳에 존재하는, 뼈와 주위조직에 둘러싸인 곳을 Guaon's canal(ulnar neural canal)이라 부른다. 대개 이런 곳은 주위조직의 부종이나, 외상 등으로 좁아지기 쉬어서 병터가 발생하기 쉽다. |
