| rosacea-like tuberculid | Papular lesions in rosacea, characterised microscopically by perifollicular granulomas with central necrosis and scattered giant cells. Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei is probably a form of granulomatous rosacea. Synonym: rosacea-like tuberculid, tuberculoid rosacea. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| papular tuberculid | Small asymptomatic lichen papules on the trunk of children with tuberculosis; acid-fast bacilli are not seen in the dermal granulomas. Synonym: acne scrofulosorum, papular scrofuloderma, papular tuberculid. (05 Mar 2000) |
| papulonecrotic tuberculid | Dusky-red papules followed by crusting and ulceration primarily on the extremities and predominantly in young adults with a deep focus of tuberculosis or with a history of preceding infection. Synonym: tuberculosis cutis follicularis disseminata, tuberculosis papulonecrotica. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nodular tuberculid | A type of panniculitis characterised histologically by the presence of granulomas, vasculitis, and necrosis. It is traditionally considered to be the tuberculous counterpart of nodular vasculitis, but is now known to occur without tuberculous precedent. It is seen most commonly in adolescent and menopausal women, is initiated or exacerbated by cold weather, and typically presents as one or more recurrent erythrocyanotic nodules or plaques on the calves. The nodules may progress to form indurations, ulcerations, and scars. (12 Dec 1998) |
| tuberculid | A lesion of the skin or mucous membrane resulting from hypersensitivity to mycobacterial antigens disseminated from a distant site of active tuberculosis. Origin: tubercul-+ G. -id (05 Mar 2000) |
| acne rosacea | <dermatology> A facial skin disorder which results from chronic inflammation of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, and-or eyelids. This is often demonstrated by increased redness or acne-like eruptions in these locations on the face. (15 Nov 1997) |
| blepharitis rosacea | Inflammation of the margins of the eyelids in association with acne rosacea. Seborrheic blepharitis, a common type of chronic inflammation of the margins of the eyelids with erythema and white scales; often with an associated seborrheic dermatitis of scalp and face. Synonym: blepharitis oleosa, blepharitis squamosa. Blepharitis sicca, inflammation of the margins of the eyelids in which the lashes are powdered with dry scales. (05 Mar 2000) |
| granulomatous rosacea | Papular lesions in rosacea, characterised microscopically by perifollicular granulomas with central necrosis and scattered giant cells. Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei is probably a form of granulomatous rosacea. Synonym: rosacea-like tuberculid, tuberculoid rosacea. (05 Mar 2000) |
| rosacea | <dermatology> A facial skin disorder which results from chronic inflammation of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, and-or eyelids. This is often demonstrated by increased redness or acne-like eruptions in these locations on the face. (15 Nov 1997) |
| hypertrophic rosacea | A manifestation of severe acne rosacea resulting in significant enlargement of the nose and occurring primarily in men. It is caused by hypertrophy of the sebaceous glands and surrounding connective tissue. The nose is reddened and marked with numerous telangiectasias. (12 Dec 1998) |
| tuberculoid rosacea | Papular lesions in rosacea, characterised microscopically by perifollicular granulomas with central necrosis and scattered giant cells. Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei is probably a form of granulomatous rosacea. Synonym: rosacea-like tuberculid, tuberculoid rosacea. (05 Mar 2000) |
| african swine fever-like viruses | An unnamed, unclassified genus of DNA viruses with a single species: african swine fever virus. (12 Dec 1998) |
| anterior pituitary-like hormone | A glycoprotein with a carbohydrate fraction composed of d-galactose and hexosamine, extracted from the urine of pregnant women and produced by the placental trophoblastic cells; its most important role appears to be stimulation, during the first trimester, of ovarian secretion of the oestrogen and progesterone required for the integrity of conceptus; it appears to play no significant role in the last two trimesters of pregnancy, as the oestrogen and progesterone are then formed by the placenta. Synonym: anterior pituitary-like hormone, choriogonadotropin, chorionic gonadotropic hormone, chorionic gonadotrophic hormone, placenta gonadotropin, placentagonadotropin. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Artemia trypsin-like proteinase | <enzyme> Cysteine proteinase involved in lipovitellin degradation Registry number: EC 3.4.22.- (26 Jun 1999) |
| box-like heart | <radiology> Ebstein's anomaly, massive cardiomegaly, primarily RA enlargement (12 Dec 1998) |
