| 설명 | 척삭동물 포유강의 한 목을 이루는 동물군. 쥐류라고도 한다. 몸길이 5~7cm로 매우 작은 것부터 남아메리카에 사는 캐피바라(capybara)와 같이 1~1.3m에 이르는 것까지 있다. 이들의 앞니는 위-아래 모두 1쌍 뿐으로 일생 동안 자라는데, 앞면에만 에나멜질이 있고 끌 모양이다. 송곳니는 없고, 앞니와 앞어금니 사이에 넓은 틈이 있다. 보통 발가락이 다섯 개이지만 앞발의 엄지발가락이 흔적만 남아 있거나 없는 것이 많다. |
