| pigmented purpuric lichenoid dermatosis | An eruption comprised of lichenoid papules variously pigmented from the haemosiderin of the associated purpura; found on the legs, usually in men over 40 years of age. Synonym: Gougerot and Blum disease. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| reticulate | Forming a network. (09 Oct 1997) |
| confluent and reticulate papillomatosis | Discrete and confluent gray-brown papules of the anterior and posterior mid-chest, spreading gradually; Malassezia furfur has been found in the keratin layer. Synonym: Gougerot-Carteaud syndrome. (05 Mar 2000) |
| acarine dermatosis | An eruption caused by one of the acarine parasites. (05 Mar 2000) |
| acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis | A rare dermatosis, predominant in women, of rapid onset and characterised by plaque-like lesions, usually multiple, on the face, neck, and upper extremities, accompanied by conjunctivitis, mucosal lesions, fever, malaise, arthralgia, and peripheral blood neutrophilia in many cases; biopsy reveals polymorphonuclear infiltrate of the dermis; rapid remission occurs with systemic steroid therapy. Synonym: Sweet's disease. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ashy dermatosis | Variously sized gray or red, slightly elevated macular lesions that tend to coalesce on the trunk, extremities, and face, commonly in dark-skinned Latin Americans; of unknown cause. Synonym: ashy dermatosis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Bowen's precancerous dermatosis | A persistent progressive non-elevated red scaly or crusted plaque which is due to an intradermal carcinoma and is potentially malignant. Atypical squamous cells proliferate through the whole thickness of the epidermis. The lesions may occur anywhere on the skin surface or on mucosal surfaces. The cause most frequently found is trivalent arsenic compounds. Freezing, cauterization or diathermy coagulation is often effective. (12 Dec 1998) |
| radiation dermatosis | Skin changes at the site of ionizing radiation, particularly erythema in the acute stage, temporary or permanent epilation, and chronic changes in the epidermis and dermis resembling actinic keratosis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| giant pigmented nevus | These large pigmented (often hairy) congenital nevi are important because of their increased risk (10 to 15%) of conversion into malignant melanoma. A biopsy can confirm if cells have turned malignant. Any change in a pre-existing nevus should prompt a physician evaluation. (27 Sep 1997) |
| villonodular pigmented tenosynovitis | A condition resembling pigmented villonodular synovitis but arising in periarticular soft tissue rather than in joint synovia; occurs most commonly in the hands. Synonym: villonodular pigmented tenosynovitis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| retinal pigmented epithelial cell | See: pigmented retinal epithelium, retina. (18 Nov 1997) |
| chick nutritional dermatosis | Dermatosis in chicks, with eruptions about the eyes, mouth, and feet; responds to pantothenic acid. (05 Mar 2000) |
| chronic bullous dermatosis of childhood | A rare self-limiting bullous disease, chiefly of the trunk, perioral, and pelvic areas, with onset in the first decade, successively less severe recurrences, and total remission at adolescence; linear epidermal basement membrane zone deposit of IgA is found in involved and in normal skin. Synonym: linear IgA bullous disease in children. (05 Mar 2000) |
| pigmented | <biology> Coloured; specifically, filled or imbued with pigment; as, pigmented epithelial cells; pigmented granules. Source: Websters Dictionary (01 Mar 1998) |
| pigmented ameloblastoma | A benign neoplasm of neuroectodermal origin that most often involves the anterior maxilla of infants in the first year of life. It presents clinically as a rapidly growing blue-black lesion producing a destructive radiolucency; histologically, it is characterised by small round undifferentiated tumour cells interspersed with larger polyhedral melanin-producing cells arranged in an alveolar configuration. Synonym: melanoameloblastoma, pigmented ameloblastoma, pigmented epulis, progonoma of jaw, retinal anlage tumour. (05 Mar 2000) |
