mechanical site preparation operations that are often performed together. Shearing knocks down residual vegetation with a blade mounted on a bulldozer. Roots and stumps are removed with a large rake mounted in place of the blade. Debris is then pushed into piles or windrows. These procedures cause significant soil disturbance and are generally used only to control large competing vegetation or to clear a site.
