| 설명 | 폭스바이러스과에 속하는 바이러스의 한 무리. 2중사슬 DNA를 가지며, 2중의 엔벨로프에 싸인 대형(약 200×300nm)의 벽돌형 바이러스이다. 숙주인 원형질내에서 증식하는 유일한 DNA 바이러스로서 비리온(세포 밖에서 감염성을 갖는 바이러스 입자)내에 DNA의존성과 RNA중합효소를 갖고 있다. 폭스바이러스는 NP항원(뉴클레오캡시드에서 추출되는 수용성 항원)에 공통항원을 갖는 오르토폭스(orthopox) 바이러스, 아비폭스(avipox) 바이러스, 레포리폭스(leporipox) 바이러스, 카프리폭스(capripox) 바이러스, 파라폭스(parapox) 바이러스, 엔토모폭스(entomopox) 바이러스 등 여섯 가지의 바이러스속으로 이루어진다. 오르토폭스 바이러스속의 마마 바이러스가 잘 알려져 있다. |
