| 설명 | 청신경(제8뇌신경)의 신경겉을 싸고 있는 집(sheath)의 슈반세포(Schwann cell)에서 기원하는 종양-뇌종양 중 비교적 흔하며 대개 40~50대에 호발한다. 증상으로는 귀울림, 난청, 소뇌기능장애 등이 있으며, 이중 귀울림이 가장 초기의 증상이다. |

| neurofibroma, plexiform | A type of neurofibroma representing an anomaly rather than a true neoplasm, in which the proliferation of schwann cells occurs from the inner aspect of the nerve sheath, thereby resulting in an irregularly thickened, distorted, tortuous structure. | acoustic neuroma | <oncology, tumour> This is a benign tumour of the 8th cranial nerve. This tumour arises from the myelin forming Schwann cells that coat the 8th cranial nerve (acoustic nerve). Clinical presentation usually includes hearing deficit. Diagnosis can be made with auditory evoked potentials and/or MRI scanning of the brain. Vertigo and tinnitus may be associated symptoms.
