phototoxic dermatitis induced by the sequential exposure to certain plants containing psoralen-type photosensitizers and then to sunlight. It is manifested by burning erythema, followed by edema and the development of small vesicles that coalesce into large bullae, and this is followed by intense residual hyperpigmentation in the areas of the skin that come in contact with the psoralen photosensitizer.
