| pemphigoid |
One of the two classes of autoimmune bullous skin diseases (pemphigus is the other). The target antigens are constituents of hemi-desmosomes which hold the epidermis to the dermis. Cicatricial pemphigoid is a clinical subtype that differs from the more common bullous pemphigoid because skin blisters are not present and mucosal lesions predominate that heal with scarring .
