| 설명 | 유방암에 걸렸을 때 유방을 절제하는 수술방법으로, 암에 이환된 유방과 큰가슴(pectoralis major), 작은가슴근(pectoralis minor)과 겨드랑 림프절 등을 모두 절제하는 방법이다. 이 방법을 사용하면, 치료효과에 비해 너무 지나친 환자의 수술후 합병증을 가져오게 되므로 요즘은 중요신경과 작은가슴근을 살리는 변형근치유방절제술(modified radical mastectomy)를 주로 시행한다. |

| 설명 | 유방암 등이 생겼을 때 그 치료를 위해 유방을 떼어내는 치료법으로 다음과 같은 종류가 있다. -종괴절제술(lumpectomy): 유방을 그대로 둔채, 그 병터부위만 자르는 경우에 해당한다. -단순절제술(simple total): 병터이 있는 유방전체를 절제하는 것. -근치절제술(radical): 유방뿐만 아니라 주위 근육, 신경, 혈관, 림프절 등 대부분의 조직을 자르는 근치적 수술. -변형근치(modified radical): 근치보다는 중요신경, 근육 등을 남기며, 보다 미학적인 면을 고려한 수술. |

Non-specific term for surgery in which part of the breast is removed. The axillary (underarm) lymph nodes are taken out through the original incision or via a separate incision in the armpit itself. In general, between 10 and 15 lymph nodes are removed during partial mastectomy.
