| 설명 | 뇌의 기질적인(organic-:이 말은 기능적인(functional)에 반하는 말로써) 모든 검사를 시행하면 어떤 이상을 발견할 수 있다는 뜻이다. 바꾸어 말하면, 기능적인 이상에 의한 뇌증후군은 어떠한 검사로도 이상을 발견할 수 없으나 분명히 환자에게 이상증상이 나타났을 때 이를 묶어서 말한다. 이상에 의해 신경학적인 이상을 나타내는 일련의 병적현상을 모두 통틀어 말한다. 이 병은 흔히 보아 마치 정신병환자처럼 말을 횡설수설하고, 알아들을 수 없는 말을 하며, 때로는 다른 사람에게 공격적인 성향을 나타내기도 한다. 그리고 다른 사람과 도저히 교류를 할 수 없는 정서를 나타내기도 한다. 그러나, 이 병이 다른 정신병과 구별되는 특징적인 증상은 먼저, 의식의 혼탁이 동반되는 경우가 많고, 또한 그 증상의 정도가 변한다는 것이다. 즉, 아침에는 정상적인 행동을 하다가 오후가 되면, 의식이 흐려지면서 말을 횡설수설한다면, 이는 기질성뇌증후군일 가능성이 높다. |

| 설명 | 척주가 옆으로 굽어진 변형. 원인불명의 특발성 옆굽음증과 원인이 확실한 증후성 옆굽음증으로 나뉜다. 특발성 옆굽음증이 증례의 대부분을 차지하며, 발병 연령에 따라 영유아기, 초등학생기, 사춘기로 분류되는데, 대부분은 사춘기성이다. 치료는 기구요법 등의 보존요법이 기본이지만, 진행성인 것, 호흡기능장애나 신경합병증이 있는 것, 보전요법으로 치료가 되지 않는 것 등에는 수술적요법이 행해진다. 증상은 목이 좌우로 움직이는 양이 다르고, 한쪽어깨가 다른 쪽 어깨보다 높은데 엉덩이는 반대쪽이 높다. 남성보다 여성에 많이 나타나며 주로 10~15세 사이 여학생에게 많이 발생한다. 빠른 속도로 진행하기 때문에 의심이 가면 검사를 하는 것이 좋다. 척추측만증은 크게 기능성과 구조성으로 나눌 수 있다. 기능성 또는 비구조성 척추측만증은 척추 자체에는 문제가 없지만 다른 외부의 원인으로 증세가 발생하여 2차적인 증세로 나타나는 것을 말한다. 의자에 앉는 자세가 바르지 못한 경우나 책가방을 한 쪽으로만 들고 다니는 경우에 발생하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 밖에도 다리 길이가 달라서 발생하는 경우, 엉덩관절이 굳어서 나타나는 경우, 허리 척추원반탈출이나 척추의 양성종양으로 발생하는 경우도 있다. 기능성 측만증의 경우에는 그 원인만 제거하면 증세가 사라진다. 구조성 척추측만증은 척추 자체의 문제로 인하여 발생하며, 대부분의 경우 아직 원인이 알려져 있지 않다. 이는 사춘기 이전에 발생하는데, 여학생에게 특히 심하게 나타날 수 있다. 이 척추측만증은 뇌성마비, 근육마비, 소아마비, 선천성 척추 이상 등에 의하여 나타나기도 한다. 그 밖에 선천성 척추측만증은 가족 중의 한 명이 척추측만증이 있을 경우 발생률은 20% 정도로 일반적인 발생률 2%에 비하여 높다. 이 경우에는 신체 다른 장기의 기형을 잘 동반하는데, 비뇨기적 기형의 20~40%, 심장 기형의 10~20%, 척추신경 이상의 10~40%를 동반할 수 있으므로 이러한 동반 기형에 대해서도 초음파 검사, 콩팥검사 등이 필요하다. |
