a type of mycotoxicosis usually seen in pigs and sometimes poultry or dogs after they eat grain or flour products contaminated by ochratoxin-producing molds such as Aspergillus ochraceus or Penicillium viridicatum. Characteristics include kidney damage with anorexia, prostration, and sometimes death. Balkan nephritis is closely related and may be a rare form of ochratoxicosis in humans.
