| 설명 | 남성 유방은 발생과 성장이 사춘기 전까지는 여성 유방과 유사하나 사춘기부터는 여성의 유방에 있는 젖을 만드는 젖샘조직의 발달이 없게 된다. 여성과 마찬가지로, 덜 예민하기는 하나 남성유방도 호르몬의 영향을 받으며, 여성호르몬인 에스트로겐이 과도할 경우에 유방의 확장이 될 수 있으며 이를 여성형 유방이라고 하고, 정상 및 비정상적인 조건하에서 발생한다. 여성형 유방은 청소년기에 일시적인 현상으로 유방 양측에 발생하여 몇 개월 후 저절로 퇴화되는 것이 대부분이다. 그러나 때로는 노인에서 발생하기도 하며 이는 고환의 남성호르몬의 생성기능의 소실로 부신에서 생성하는 에스트로겐의 영향이 증가하기 때문이다. 성인에서는 여성형 유방이 여성호르몬인 에스트로겐이 증가하는 여러 질병에서 동반되어 나타난다. 또 화학요법제제로 치료 받은 사람, 만성적인 마리화나 흡연자와 헤로인 중독자에서도 볼 수 있으며 원인 모르게 발생하기도 한다. 그리고 만성간병이 여성형 유방의 원인이 될 수 있으며, 이는 간에서의 에스트로겐을 분해하는 기능이 있는데 간 기능의 장애로 에스트로겐을 분해하지 못해서 에스트로겐이 혈액중에 많아지기 때문이다. |
