| 설명 | 폐를 팽창시키기 위하여 대기압보다 높은 압력을 이용하는 인공호흡법이다. 신생아 무기폐의 치료나 만성 폐쇄성 호흡기 질환의 급성 악화시, 진단을 위한 가래의 배출을 위하여, 또는 약제의 흡입에 사용하고 있다. 합병증으로 공기가슴증이나 심박출량의 감소가 올 수 있다. |

| 설명 | 허파로 공기를 들이쉬고 내쉬는 것을 반복하는 것. 즉, 생물이 물질을 산화 또는 분해하여 생활활동에 필요한 에너지를 획득하는 작용. 보통 호흡은 흉곽의 운동과 공기가 허파를 출입하는 것을 말하는데, 생리학에서 말하는 호흡에는 다음과 같은 내용이 포함된다. ① 허파 속으로 공기가 이동한다. ② 허파에서 혈액으로 산소를 건네준다. ③ 혈액에 의하여 온몸의 세포로 산소를 운반한다. ④ 세포에 의한 산소의 이용과 이산화탄소를 생산한다. ⑤ 혈액에 의하여 이산화탄소를 폐로 운반한다. ⑥ 혈액으로부터 폐로 이산화탄소를 건네준다. ⑦ 허파에서 외계로 공기를 내보내는 일 등이다. 이 중 세포에 의한 산소의 섭취와 이산화탄소의 배출과정을 내호흡이라 하고, 폐와 혈액 사이의 산소와 이산화탄소의 교환을 외호흡이라고 한다. |

| 설명 | 비출혈이란 말그대로 코에서 피가 나는 것이다. 이 코피에는 여러 가지 원인이 있다. 일반적 원인으로는 혈액병, 순환기병, 고열, 기압의 변화 등을 들 수 있고 월경이나 뇌출혈의 대상으로 나오는 일도 있으나, 실제로는 국소적 원인이 훨씬 많은 것으로 알려져 있다. 국소적 원인으로는 원인을 알 수 없는 특발성 비출혈이 가장 많고, 외상, 염증, 암등이 원인일수 있다. 출혈은 약 90%가 비중격의 전단에 있는 키셀바흐얼기(Kiesselbach's plexus)에서 나온다. 이곳은 여러 가지 동맥이 모여 있는 곳으로 원래 혈류가 많아 출혈의 소지가 많은 곳이다. 나머지 10%는 코안의 다른 부위에서 나올 수 있고, 특히 뒷부분에서 나오는 경우는 입으로 피가 흘러내리고, 확실한 출혈 부위를 정확히 관찰할 수 없는 경우가 많기 때문에 간단한 치료로는 해결되지 않는 때가 많다. |
