| musculus papillaris | <anatomy> Small muscles within the heart which anchor the heart valves. (12 Dec 1998) |

| musculus sacrococcygeus ventralis | <anatomy> An inconstant muscle on the pelvic surfaces of the sacrum and coccyx, the remains of a portion of the tail musculature of lower animals. Synonym: musculus sacrococcygeus ventralis, musculus sacrococcygeus anterior, ventral sacrococcygeal muscle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| areola papillaris | A circular pigmented area surrounding the nipple or papilla mammae; its surface is dotted with little projections due to the presence of areolar glands beneath. Synonym: areola mammae, areola papillaris, areola. (05 Mar 2000) |
| processus papillaris | The left lower angle of the caudate lobe of the liver, opposite the caudate process. Synonym: processus papillaris. (05 Mar 2000) |
| dermatitis papillaris capillitii | A type of acneiform disorder in which secondary pyogenic infection in and around pilosebaceous structures ends in keloidal scarring. It manifests as persistent folliculitis of the back of the neck associated with occlusion of the follicular orifices. It is most often encountered in black or asian men. (12 Dec 1998) |
| foveola papillaris | The minute depression sometimes seen at the apex of a papilla of the kidney where a papillary duct opens into a calix. (05 Mar 2000) |
| radix ventralis | The motor root of a spinal nerve. Synonym: radix anterior, radix motoria, anterior root, motor root, radix ventralis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| rami ventralis | Rami ventralis See: ventral primary rami of cervical spinal nerves, ventral primary rami of lumbar spinal nerves, ventral primary rami of sacral spinal nerves, ventral primary ramus of spinal nerve. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ramus ventralis nervi spinalis | <anatomy, nerve> The larger, anterolaterally-directed major terminal branch (with the dorsal primary ramus) of all 31 pairs of mixed spinal nerves, formed at the intervertebral foramen. Most ventral primary rami, especially those involved in the innervation of the limbs, participate in the formation of the major nerve plexuses (cervical, brachial, and lumbosacral) and lose their identities. Most in the thoracic region, however, remain separate from adjacent rami to become the intercostal and subcostal nerves. Ventral primary rami provide innervation to the anterolateral body wall and trunk. Nomina Anatomica lists ventral primary rami as "rami ventrales" for each group of spinal nerves: 1) cervical (nervorum cervicalium ), 2) thoracic (nervorum thoracicorum ), 3) lumbar (nervorum lumbalium ), 4) sacral (nervorum sacralium )m, and 5) coccygeal (nervi coccygei ). Synonym: ramus ventralis nervi spinalis, anterior primary division. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ventralis | Synonym: ventral. Origin: L. (05 Mar 2000) |
| pars ventralis pontis | The large ventral part of the pons occupied by the nuclei pontis, traversed longitudinally by corticopontine, corticobulbar, and corticospinal fibres, and transversely by pontocerebellar fibres. Pontocerebellar fibres converging laterally form the middle cerebellar peduncle or brachium pontis. Synonym: pars ventralis pontis, anterior part of pons, basilar part of pons, pars basilaris pontis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| pedunculus thalami ventralis | The massive system of fibre bundles emerging through the ventral, lateral, and anterior borders of the thalamus to join the internal capsule and parts of the corona radiata; it contains the fibres reciprocally connecting the ventral thalamic nuclei with the precentral and postcentral gyri of the cerebral cortex. Synonym: pedunculus thalami ventralis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| commissura ventralis alba | A narrow band of white substance bordering on the anterior median fissure of the spinal cord in front of the anterior gray commissure, and consisting of nerve fibres crossing over from one half of the spinal cord to the other. Synonym: commissura alba, anterior white commissure, commissura ventralis alba, ventral white column. (05 Mar 2000) |
| norma ventralis | External aspect of the base of skull Synonym: norma basilaris, basis cranii externa, norma inferior, norma ventralis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| sulcus ventralis | A deep median fissure on the anterior surface of the spinal cord. Synonym: fissura mediana anterior medullae spinalis, anteromedian groove, sulcus ventralis. (05 Mar 2000) |
