| 설명 | 방광에서 체외로 오줌을 운반하는 막성관. 남성의 요도는 전부요도(anterior urethra: 보다 앞쪽에 존재하는, 성기에 가까운 쪽), 즉 성기부(penile part), 망울부(bulbous part)와 후부요도(posterior urethra), 즉 막부(membranous part), 전립샘부(prostatic part)로 나누어진다. 이에 비해 여성의 요도는 이러한 구분이 없고 남성의 요도에 비해 짧고 굵으며 직선에 가깝고 항문으로부터도 가깝다. 이러한 이유로 여성에서는 요도감염이 남성에 비해 흔하다.  |

| 설명 | 50세 이상의 남성에 빈발하는 병으로 전립샘의 요도 주위 영역에 큰결절을 형성하여, 이것이 커지면 요도를 압박하여 부분적 혹은 완전한 요도폐색을 일으키는 병이다. 증상은 요도폐색에 따른 소변의 감소와 방광자극증상으로 빈뇨, 잔뇨감, 소변을 참을 수 없는 증상 등이다. 치료는 경요도 전립샘 적출술로 전립선의 비대한 부분을 절제해야 한다. |

| 설명 | 근섬유의 파괴로 인한 점진적인 근위축과 허약을 특징으로 하는 일련의 선천적인 질환군을 통털어 말한다. 대표적인 경우가 뒤쉔(Duchenne)형으로 성염색체 열성유전을 하며, 대개 4 세이내에 발병해 청년기를 넘기는 경우가 드물다. 특징적 소견으로 장딴지근(gastronemius)의 거짓비대(pseudohypertrophy)(실제적으로는 근위축이 일어나지만, 근섬유 대신에 지방세포가 들어차 도리어 마치 근육이 증가한 것처럼 보이는 현상) 소견을 볼 수 있다. |

| muscular coat of stomach | Muscular tunic of the stomach, consisting of smooth muscles arranged in three fairly well defined layers: an outer longitudinal layer, continuous with that of the oesophagus but dividing at the cardia into two bands which run along the greater and lesser curvatures, leaving the middle areas of the anterior and posterior walls devoid of longitudinal fibres, and then coalescing in the pyloric region into a complete layer which is continuous with the longitudinal coat of the duodenum.
