| 설명 | 감마-붕괴로 인해 원자핵 안으로부터 방사되는 전자방사선. 같은 전자방사선인 X선과는 원자핵 밖의 현상으로 인해 발생되는 점으로 구별한다. 질량, 전하를 가지고 있지 않기 때문에 물질과의 상호작용은 알파선이나 베타선과 비교하여 매우 적으며 투과성이 매우 크다. 물질과의 상호작용은 X선의 그것과 본질적으로 차이가 없으며 에너지에 따라 톰슨산란, 광전효과, 콤튼산란, 전자쌍 생성, 광핵반응 등이 일어난다. 의료에 이용되는 것은 방사선 치료에서 60Co에 의한 외조사 또는 192Ir, 226Ra, 198Au 등으로부터의 감마선이 사용되고 감마-카메라를 사용한 핵의학 검사에서는 99mTc 등으로부터의 감마선에 의한 신티그램이 진단에 이용되고 있다. |

| 설명 | 방사성 원자핵이 β붕괴함에 따라 방출되는 방사선. 원자에 정상보다 많거나 적은 중성자나 양자를 가지고 있는 경우에는 원자가 안정되기 위하여 붕괴가 세가지 방법으로 생긴다. 이중 중성자가 하나의 전자를 내고 양성자가 되는 변화를 거치면서 나오는 전자선이다. 그 실체는 고속의 전자 또는 양전자이며 최대 에너지는 105-107eV. 투과력 및 이온화 작용은 α선과 γ선의 중간 정도이다. |

| 설명 | 1. 건강의 유지와 증진, 병의 조기 발견이나 예방 따위를 위해서 심신의 상태를 검사하는 일. 2. 의사나 치과의사가 자각적-타각적으로 건강한 사람에 대하여 그 건강 상태를 진찰하는 일. 건강을 유지하기 위해서는 질병의 진단과 치료가 필요하지만, 치료에 있어서도 자각증상이나 타각증상이 있고 나서 손을 쓰다 보면 이미 때가 늦을 경우가 많으므로, 발병 초기에 조기진단을 함으로써 건강생활을 적극적으로 설계하려는 데에 의의가 있는 것이다. 건강진단을 크게 나누면, 개인적 건강유지를 위한 것과, 국민 전체의 건강유지를 위하여 행정적으로 특정한 대상자에게 의무적으로 하는 것이 있는데, 후자의 경우를 ‘정기건강진단’이라고 한다. 근로보건관리규정에는 위생상 유해한 직장의 종업원은 연2회 이상의 건강진단을 필요로 하고 있으며, 그 밖의 직장에서는 연1회 이상으로 규정하고 있다. 학교보건법에서는 매년 학생과 교직원의 신체검사를 하게 되어 있고, 결핵예방법에서는 모든 국민은 연1회 이상 결핵에 관한 건강진단을 받도록 되어 있으며, 모자보건법에서는 임신부와 영유아에 대한 건강진단을 규정하고 있다. 이 밖에 접객업소에서도 전염병-피부병에 관한 건강진단을 받아야 한다는 규정이 업종별로 정해져 있다. |

| 설명 | 파장이 가시광선보다 길며 극초단파보다 짧은 750μm~1mm의 전자파. 눈으로는 볼 수 없고 일반적으로 공기 가운데에서 산란되기 어려우며, 가시광선보다 투과력이 강하다. 사진 적외선-근적외선-원적외선 따위로 나눌 수 있는데, 단파장 부분에는 사진 작용-형광 작용-광전 작용이 있어, 적외선 사진이나 적외선 통신-물질 감정-의료 따위에 이용한다. 1800년에 허셀이 발견되었다. 적외선은 물질에 부딛치며 구성분자의 열운동을 일으켜서 열효과를 주게되므로 열선이라고도 불린다. 태양광선의 약 52%는 적외선이다. 700~800nm의 적외선은 인체피부를 투과해서 피하에까지 이른다. 과도의 적외선 조사는 피부에 온열성홍반을 일으키게 해서 화상을 일으킬 수 있다. |
