| 설명 | 젖먹이 또는 유아의 체중이 표준의 20% 감소이하 상태를 말한다. 증상으로서는 보기에 말랐으며 경과를 관찰해도 체중곡선이 수평이거나 또는 서서히 하강한다. 기분이 나쁘며 잘 울고 잠도 잘 자지 못하고 체온의 동요가 쉽게 생긴다. 체중이 표준의 60% 감소 이하인 경우에는 소모증(marasmus)이라 하며, 영양실조의 증상이 없고 체중과 신장의 동일한 비율로 현저하게 표준 이하인 경우에는 발육부족이라 한다. 원인으로는 잘못된 영양의 섭취, 만성병이나 체질에 의한 음식물의 소화-흡수불량-감염 증 등의 원인병이 있는 경우, 정서불안정 등이 있다. |
