| lymphomatoid papulosis | Clinically benign, histologically malignant, recurrent cutaneous eruption characterised by an infiltration of large atypical cells surrounded by inflammatory cells. The atypical cells resemble reed-sternberg cells of hodgkin's disease or the malignant cells of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. In some cases, lymphomatoid papulosis progresses to lymphomatous conditions including mycosis fungoides, hodgkin's disease, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, or ki-1 lymphoma. (12 Dec 1998) |

Lymphomatoid papulosis, a chronic papular and ulcerative variant of pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta characterised by dermal perivascular infiltration by atypical T lymphocytes suggestive of a lymphoma; it is usually benign, but transformation to lymphoma has been reported. Malignant atrophic papulosis, a cutaneovisceral syndrome characterised by pathognomonic umbilicated porcelain-white papules with elevated telangiectatic annular borders, followed by the development of intestinal ulcers which perforate, causing peritonitis; arterioles in the lesions are occluded by thrombosis without inflammatory cells, leading to infarction, progressive neurological disability, and death. (LyP): a non-cancerous skin disorder that can progress into Hodgkin's Disease or forms of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Skin lesions come and go. The drug methotrexate is sometimes prescribed to speed the healing process and prevent new lesions. The prevalence rate is estimated at 1.2 to 1.9 cases per million population.
