leishmania braziliensis A parasitic haemoflagellate of the subgenus leishmania viannia that infects man and animals. It causes cutaneous (leishmaniasis, cutaneous), diffuse cutaneous (leishmaniasis, diffuse cutaneous), and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis (leishmaniasis, mucocutaneous) depending on the subspecies of this organism.
