| 설명 | 멜라닌 과립이 산재성으로 축적함으로써 생기는 피부의 갈색 점모양의 색소반점. 얼굴에 흔하다. 눈 둘레에서 뺨에 이르기가지 좁쌀알 크기에서 쌀알 크기 정도의 연갈색 또는 갈색의 색소반으로서 다수가 무리지어 생긴다. 유전성이며 5~6세경부터 생기기 시작하여 사춘기 가까이 되면 눈에 띄게 많이 생긴다. 일반적으로 피부가 흰 여자에게 많다. 또 해수욕-등산 등으로 강한 자외선을 직접 받으면 그 수도 많아지고 색깔도 진해진다. 어깨와 위팔에 생기는 수도 있다. 조직표본을 현미경으로 보면 표피바닥세포에 멜라닌색소가 증가되어 있다. |

| 설명 | 안구의 각막과 수정체 사이에 있는 둥근 모양의 얇은 막. 막의 중앙에 동공이 있으며, 홍채의 신축으로 동공이 축소되거나 확대되어 안구에 들어오는 빛의 양을 조절한다. 인종에 따라 색소가 다른다. 눈동자의 주위에 있는 고리 모양의 막, 검은 눈동자의 본체는 각막을 통해 흑색으로 보이는 홍채이다. 중앙에 원형의 동공이 있고, 이 곳을 통하여 전안방과 후안방이 이어진다. 홍채가 이완하거나 수축함에 따라 동공의 크기가 변하고 따라서 망막에 달하는 광선의 양이 조절된다. 즉, 홍채는 카메라의 조리개에 해당한다. 홍채의 이완과 수축은 그 속에 있는 동공산대근 및 동공조임근에 의하여 이루어진다. 홍채의 외주연은 섬모체연이라고 하며, 모양체에 연결되어 있다. 또 내측연, 즉 동공의 외주연은 동공연이라고 한다. 홍채의 조직은 색소세포가 풍부한 층으로 되어 있는데, 그 색소의 빛깔이나 혈관의 다소에 의하여 홍채의 빛깔이 달라 보인다.  |

| hutchinson's melanotic freckle | A cutaneous malignant melanoma found most often on the sun-exposed areas of the skin, especially the face, which begins as a circumscribed, macular patch of mottled pigmentation, showing shades of dark brown, tan, or black, and enlarges by lateral growth before dermal invasion occurs. This type is the slowest growing, has the least tendency to metastasize, and seems to be the least aggressive form of malignant melanoma. Patients are commonly in their sixth or seventh decade.
