| 설명 | 피부를 날카로운 바늘로 긁어 피부의 반응을 보는 검사로 피부 과민반응이나 알레르기를 알아보기 위한 검사이다. 바늘끝에 항원을 묻힌 뒤, 피부밑을 긁어 반응을 알아본다. 이때 항원이 아닌 대조물질(예를 들어 보통의 물)을 묻힌 바늘을 같이 반응하여 피부묘기증(dermographism) 단지 바늘의 긁힘만으로 알레르기 같은 반응을 일으키는 현상과 감별해야 한다. 난청, 청력소실(hearing loss) 청각이 저하 또는 상실된 상태. 원인과 정도는 여러 가지인데, 난청은 그 정도가 가장 심한 상태이다. 청각의 전도경로에 장애가 있을 때 난청이 일어나고, 그 병터가 외이도나 중이에 있는 것을 전음난청, 내이에 있는 것을 감음 난청이라 하여 구분한다. 또 병터의 자리를 명시하여 중이성 난청이나 미로성 난청 등으로 세분하기도 한다. |

| 설명 | 대변내에 있을 수 있는 잠혈(눈에 보이지 않는 출혈)유무를 검사하는 방법으로, 혈구내의 heme peroxidase에 의해 guaiac이 산화되는 반응을 이용하여 측정한다. 방법은 3일간에 걸쳐 한 변에서 2군데씩 채취하여 검사한다. 위양성 반응(거짓으로 혈액이 있다고 나타나는 반응)은 식물 과산화효소를 함유하고 있는 홍당무의 섭취나 혈구 성분을 함유하고 있는 고기 섭취 등에서 나타날 수 있으며, 위음성 반응(실제로 혈액은 있지만, 혈액이 없다고 나타나는 반응)은 환원력을 가지고 있는 비타민 C의 복용시 나타날 수 있다. 특히 위양성 반응이 매우 흔하다. |

| 설명 | 사고장애와 정서장애에 민감한 투사검사(projective test). 검은색과 몇가지 색으로 이루어진 잉크얼룩같은 도형이 그려진 10개의 카드를 이용한다. 피검자에게 카드를 보이고 본 것에 대해 말하도록 한다. 다음에는 얼룩의 어느 위치가 피검자가 말한 지각대상을 암시하는지 찾도록 한다. 피검자의 답변을 분석하면 그의 사고와 정서상태에 대한 정보를 얻을 수 있다. |

| 설명 | 소아에 주로 실시하는 검사 방법으로, BCG접종후에나 혹은 결핵균에 한번이라도 노출된 경우에 양성반응으로 나온다. 우리나라에서는 생후 1개월에 BCG예방접종을 시행하므로 대부분 양성으로 나오게 되나, 이 예방접종을 받지 않은 상태에서 양성으로 나오면, 결핵균의 침투를 의심할 수 있다. |

| acceptable daily intake | <pharmacology> This is an estimate of the amount of a substance in food that can be ingested daily over a lifetime by humans without appreciable health risk. The concept of the acceptable daily intake has been developed principally by who and FAO and is relevant to chemicals such as additives to foods, residues of pesticides and veterinary drugs in foods. Acceptable daily intakes are derived from laboratory toxicity data, and from human experiences of such chemicals when this is available, and incorporate a safety factor. The acceptable daily intake is thus an estimate of the amount of a substance in food that can be ingested over a lifetime by humans without significant risk to health (for contaminants in food and drinking water, tolerable intakes - daily or weekly - are used). | tolerable daily intake | TDIs are applied to chemical contaminants in food and drinking water. The presence of contaminants is unwanted and they have no useful function, differing from additives and residues where there is or was deliberate use resulting in their presence. TDIs are calculated on the basis of laboratory toxicity data with the application of uncertainty factors. | ACTH suppression test | <investigation> A test that measures the response of the adrenal glands to ACTH. In this case, dexamethasone is given to the patient and then blood cortisol levels are measured. Under normal conditions, cortisol levels should drop in response to dexamethasone. In this test one milligram of dexamethasone is administered in the morning and then the blood is drawn for analysis the following morning. Abnormal test results can indicate Cushing's syndrome.
