| 설명 | 가운데 귀 즉 중이는 귀인두관과 연결되어 있다. 이 관의 모양이 성인에서는 휘어져 있고 관이 좁아서 막히는 경우가 드문 편이나, 소아에서는 평행으로 되어 있으며 곧고 바로 입안과 연결되어 있어 막히는 경우가 흔하다. 이렇게 관이 막히는 경우 가운데귀에는 장액으로 차게 되어 중이염이 발생할 수 있는데 이를 장액성중이염이라고 한다. 이에 비해 병균이 침입하여 고름집을 이루며, 염증반응과 가운데귀파괴가 심한 경우를 화농성중이염이라고 한다. |

| 설명 | 기도를 침범하는 바이러스 감염증. 지역유행성, 유행성 또는 범발성으로 발생한다. 범발성의 경우는 여러 대륙을 동시에 또는 연속적으로 침범한다. 코점막, 인두, 결막의 염증, 두통, 때때로 전신의 심한 근육통이 특징이다. 심장근과 중추신경계가 침해되는 일은 적다. 괴사기관지염과 간질폐렴이 중증 인플루엔자의 주된 증상이다. 환자는 폐렴알균(Streptococcus pneumoniae), 인플루엔자균(Hemophilus influenzae), 황색포도알균(Staphylococus aureus)에 의한 속발성 세균성 폐렴에 걸리기 쉽다. 잠복기는 1~3, 질병기간은 통상 3~10일이다. 인플루엔자는 A(많은 아군이 있다), B, C로 이름지어진 여러 가지의 혈청학적으로 다른 바이러스주에 의해 발생한다. |

| 설명 | 인플루엔자의 병원체. 상기도 점막에 침입하여 호흡기 질환을 일으킨다. 보체 결합 항원의 차이에 따라 A-B-C 세형태로 나뉘며, 유행할 때마다 혈구 응집 항원이 변이하여 광범위한 유행을 나타낸다. 껍질이 있는 80~150nm의 공모양, 나선 대칭 RNA 바이러스이다. 두 종류의 스파이크, 뉴라미니다아제(neuraminidase, NA), 당단백질과 헤마글루티닌(hemagglution, HA) 당단백질을 만든다. A형의 NA에는 N1-N2의 두 종류, HA에는 HAO-HA1-HA2-HA3의 네 종류가 있다. A형은 말-돼지-새에 감염하며 새로운 아형은 동물 바이러스와의 조환형이며, 그 밖에 동일 아형내 점변이가 있다. B, C형은 사람 이외에는 감염되지 않는다. 닭의 적혈구를 응집하는 성질이 있다. 바이러스 진단에는 환자의 인두 세척액에서 분리한다든가, 또는 환자의 혈청항체에 의한 특이적 적혈구 응집저지검사, 뉴라미니다아제 활성저지검사 또는 중화검사 등으로 검출한다. |
