| 설명 | 눈에서 들어온 빛은 빛을 느끼는 눈의 부위인 망막에 정확히 촛점이 맞아야지만 사람은 그것을 뚜렷이 볼 수가 있다. 이런 굴절은 주로 각막에 의해서 이루어진다. 각막이란 눈의 검은 동자부위를 덮고 있는 원추형의 구조로 일종의 볼록렌즈로 빛을 모으는 역할을 한다. 그리고 각막에 의해서 꺽여진 빛은 다시 각막의 뒤에 있는 수정체라는 볼록렌즈에 의해서 굴절되는데 이 수정체는 미세하게 촛점을 맞히는 역할을 하는 것으로 그 두께를 자유로이 조절하여 먼 곳을 보거나 가까운 것을 볼 경우에 정확히 촛점을 망막에 맞게 한다. 원시란 수정체의 두께를 조절하지 않은 상태에서 평행광선이 망막 뒤에서 촛점을 맺는 경우를 말한다. 이것의 원인으로는 주로 각막의 굴절력이 약해서 각막을 통과한 빛이 적게 꺽이기 때문일 수도 있고 또는 망막에서 각막까지의 길이가 비정상적으로 짧은 경우도 있을 수가 있다. 그러므로 원시에는 볼록렌즈를 눈앞에 장치하여 굴절력을 증가시켜 주고 있다. |
