| incubation time | <microbiology> The time from the moment of inoculation (exposure) to the development of the clinical manifestations of a particular infectious disease. (13 Nov 1997) |
|---|
| short incubation hepatitis | A virus disease with a short incubation period (usually 15 to 50 days), caused by hepatitis A virus, a member of the family Picornaviridae, often transmitted by faecal-oral route; may be inapparent, mild, severe, or occasionally fatal and occurs sporadically or in epidemics, commonly in school-age children and young adults; necrosis of periportal liver cells with lymphocytic and plasma cell infiltration is characteristic and jaundice is a common symptom. Synonym: epidemic hepatitis, hepatitis A, infectious hepatitis, MS-1 hepatitis, short incubation hepatitis, virus A hepatitis. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| incubation | <microbiology> The development of an infectious disease from the entrance of the pathogen to the appearance of clinical symptoms. Origin: L. Incubatio (13 Nov 1997) |
| incubation period | <microbiology> The time from the moment of inoculation (exposure) to the development of the clinical manifestations of a particular infectious disease. (13 Nov 1997) |
| extrinsic incubation period | Time required for the development of a disease agent in a vector, from the time of uptake of the agent to the time when the vector is infective. (05 Mar 2000) |
| long incubation hepatitis | Outdated name for hepatitis B based on the longer incubation period (generally 30-180 days, usually 60-90) compared to hepatitis A (15-45 days, mean 30). (05 Mar 2000) |
| activated clotting time | The most common test used for coagulation time in cardiovascular surgery. (05 Mar 2000) |
| activated partial thromboplastin time | The time needed for plasma to form a fibrin clot following the addition of calcium and a phospholipid reagent; used to evaluate the intrinsic clotting system. (05 Mar 2000) |
| A-H conduction time | Forward conduction of the cardiac impulse from atria to ventricles via the A-V node or any bypass tract, represented in the electrocardiogram by the P-R interval. P-H conduction time is from the onset of the P wave to the first high frequency component of the His bundle electrogram (normally 119 ± 38 msec); A-H conduction time is from the onset of the first high frequency component of the atrial electrogram to the first high frequency component of the His bundle electrogram (normally 92 ± 38 msec); P-A conduction time is from the onset of the P wave to the onset of the atrial electrogram (normally 27 ± 18 msec).
