| iliopectineal eminence | A rounded elevation on the superior surface of the hip bone at the junction of the ilium and the superior ramus of the pubis. Synonym: eminentia iliopubica, iliopectineal eminence. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|
| iliopectineal | Relating to the ilium and the pubis. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| iliopectineal arch | A thickened band of fused iliac and psoas fascia passing from the posterior aspect of the inguinal ligament anteriorly across the front of the femoral nerve to attach to the iliopectineal eminence of the hip bone posteriorly. The iliopectinal arch thus forms a septum which subdivides the space deep to the inguinal ligament into a lateral muscular lacunae and a medial vascular lacunae. When a psoas minor muscle is present, its tendon of insertion blends with the iliopectineal arch. Synonym: arcus iliopectineus, iliopectineal ligament, ligamentum iliopectineale. (05 Mar 2000) |
| iliopectineal bursa | <anatomy> A large bursa between the iliopsoas tendon and the iliopubic eminence. Synonym: bursa iliopectinea. (05 Mar 2000) |
| iliopectineal fascia | A fascia formed by the union of the fasciae covering the iliacus and pectinus muscles which cover the floor of the iliopectineal fossa. See: iliopectineal arch. (05 Mar 2000) |
| iliopectineal fossa | A hollow between the iliopsoas and pectineus muscles in the centre of the femoral triangle, lodging the femoral vessels and nerve. (05 Mar 2000) |
| iliopectineal ligament | A thickened band of fused iliac and psoas fascia passing from the posterior aspect of the inguinal ligament anteriorly across the front of the femoral nerve to attach to the iliopectineal eminence of the hip bone posteriorly. (05 Mar 2000) |
| iliopectineal line | An oblique ridge on the inner surface of the ilium and continued on the pubis, which forms the lower boundary of the iliac fossa; it separates the true from the false pelvis. Synonym: iliopectineal line, terminal line. (05 Mar 2000) |
| abducens eminence | Prominent portion of the medial eminence, just rostral to the medullary striae in the rhomboidal fossa; it is formed by the internal genu of the facial nerve and the abducens nucleus around which the facial fibres curve. Synonym: colliculus facialis, abducens eminence, eminentia abducentis, eminentia facialis, facial eminence, facial hillock. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arcuate eminence | A prominence on the anterior surface of the petrous portion of the temporal bone indicating the position of the superior saemicircular canal. Synonym: eminentia arcuata. (05 Mar 2000) |
| articular eminence of temporal bone | Articular eminence of the temporal bone which bounds the mandibular fossa anteriorly; it forms the anterior root of the zygomatic process; it is enclosed by the articular capsule of the temporomandibular joint with the articular fossa; the head of the mandible (and intervening articular disc) move onto the articular tubercle to allow full depression of mandible (opening of mouth). Synonym: tuberculum articulare ossis temporalis, articular eminence of temporal bone, eminentia articularis ossis temporalis, tuber zygomaticum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| canine eminence | An elevation on the maxilla corresponding to the socket of the canine tooth. Synonym: canine prominence. (05 Mar 2000) |
| radial eminence of wrist | A rather large flat eminence on the radial side of the palmar aspect of the wrist, due to the tuberosity of scaphoid and the ridge on the trapezium. Synonym: eminentia carpi radialis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| genital eminence | In very young embryos, the vaguely outlined median elevation immediately cephalic to the proctodeum; its central part develops into the genital tubercle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| parietal eminence | A prominent portion of the parietal bone, a little above the centre of its external surface, usually corresponding to the point of maximum width of the head. Synonym: tuber parietale, eminentia parietalis, parietal tuber. (05 Mar 2000) |
| maxillary eminence | The bulging lower extremity of the posterior surface of the body of the maxilla, behind the root of the last molar tooth. Synonym: tuber maxillae, eminentia maxillae, maxillary eminence. (05 Mar 2000) |
