| 설명 | 안구의 각막과 수정체 사이에 있는 둥근 모양의 얇은 막. 막의 중앙에 동공이 있으며, 홍채의 신축으로 동공이 축소되거나 확대되어 안구에 들어오는 빛의 양을 조절한다. 인종에 따라 색소가 다른다. 눈동자의 주위에 있는 고리 모양의 막, 검은 눈동자의 본체는 각막을 통해 흑색으로 보이는 홍채이다. 중앙에 원형의 동공이 있고, 이 곳을 통하여 전안방과 후안방이 이어진다. 홍채가 이완하거나 수축함에 따라 동공의 크기가 변하고 따라서 망막에 달하는 광선의 양이 조절된다. 즉, 홍채는 카메라의 조리개에 해당한다. 홍채의 이완과 수축은 그 속에 있는 동공산대근 및 동공조임근에 의하여 이루어진다. 홍채의 외주연은 섬모체연이라고 하며, 모양체에 연결되어 있다. 또 내측연, 즉 동공의 외주연은 동공연이라고 한다. 홍채의 조직은 색소세포가 풍부한 층으로 되어 있는데, 그 색소의 빛깔이나 혈관의 다소에 의하여 홍채의 빛깔이 달라 보인다.  |

| 설명 | 급성 바이러스 감염증의 하나. 직경 3~6mm의 작은물집이 집단으로 피부에 나타는 것이 특징이다. 가끔 입술이나 콧구멍의 주위에 또는 성기에 생긴다. 보통 발열을 수반하나, 감기, 피부박탈, 감정적 불안 등을 수반하는 일이 많다. 단순히 헤르페스라고도 부른다. 단순헤르페스는 직접적인 접촉, 음부헤르페스는 성접촉이나 출생시 산도를 통해서 감염된다. 이들 병변의 병리학적 특징은 핵내에서 바이러스가 증식함에 따라 카우드리 A형 핵내 포함체를 형성한다. |

| 설명 | 수두를 일으키는 바이러스와 같은 바이러스가 원인인 병. 처음 감염으로 수두를 일으킨 Herpes zoster 바이러스는 수두가 다 낫고 나면 사라지는 것이 아니고 사람의 척수에서 나오는 신경인 척수신경의 감각을 담당하는 신경절에서 잠복을 하고 있다. 그러다가 사람의 면역기능이 저하될 때 체내에 잠재해 있던 바이러스가 재활성화(reactivation)되어 발병하는 것으로 생각되고 있다. 잠복하고 있던 척수신경의 신경절에서 나와서 그 척수신경을 따라 피부병터가 생기는데 그 이전에 동통과 감각이상 등의 증상이 선행된다. 피부의 병터는 우선 작은 크기의 피부의 융기물이 주로 한쪽에 선상으로 배열을 한 형태로 생기고 이를 뒤이어서 이것이 물집으로 바뀐다. 가장 흔히 오는 부위는 흉부이며, 뇌신경을 침범하기도 한다. 치료는 동통을 완화하는 치료만을 시행한다. 바이러스에 작용하여 바이러스를 죽이는 약물은 병터의 치유를 빨리 하고 통증을 완화시키고, 피부이외의 다른 기관으로 이 바이러스가 진행하는 것을 막지만 정상인에게 있어서는 시간이 지나면 완치가 되므로 잘 사용치 않는다. |
