| cystitis glandularis | <radiology> Associated with chronic bladder infection, bladder dome with retained elements of urachus, (?) pre-malignant (12 Dec 1998) |
| cystitis, interstitial | Disease that involves inflammation or irritation of the bladder wall. This inflammation can lead to scarring and stiffening of the bladder, and even ulcerations and bleeding. Diagnosis is based on symptoms, findings on cystoscopy and biopsy, and eliminating other treatable causes such as infection. Because doctors do not know what causes IC, treatments are aimed at relieving symptoms. most people are helped for variable periods of time by one or a combination of treatments. (12 Dec 1998) |
| incrusted cystitis | Bladder inflammation with deposition of inorganic minerals on luminal wall. There generally is evidence of chronic inflammation. (05 Mar 2000) |
| interstitial cystitis | <pathology, urology> A chronic inflammatory condition of the bladder. The cause of interstitial cystitis is unknown, but occurs more commonly in females. Symptoms include difficulty urinating, pain on urination, urinary urgency and increased frequency of urination. (27 Sep 1997) |
| emphysematous cystitis | Inflammation of the bladder wall caused by gas-forming bacteria, usually secondary to diabetes mellitus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| eosinophilic cystitis | Bladder inflammation with many eosinophils in urinary sediment as well as bladder wall. (05 Mar 2000) |
| follicular cystitis | <urology> Chronic cystitis characterised by small mucosal nodules due to lymphocytic infiltration. (05 Mar 2000) |
| allergic granulomatous angiitis | <syndrome> Widespread necrotizing angiitis with granulomas. Pulmonary involvement is frequent. Asthma or other respiratory infection may precede evidence of vasculitis. Eosinophilia and lung involvement differentiate this disease from polyarteritis nodosa. (12 Dec 1998) |
| regional granulomatous lymphadenitis | <disease> A self-limiting bacterial infection of the regional lymph nodes (lymphadenitis) caused by afipia felis, a gram-negative bacterium recently identified as bartonella henselae. It usually arises one or more weeks following a feline scratch, with raised inflammatory nodules at the site of the scratch being the primary symptom. It results in tender and enlarged lymph glands above the site of injury. A chronic benign adenopathy, especially in children and young adults, commonly associated with a recent cat scratch or bite and caused by bacteria including Bartonella henselae and Alipia felis; the lymphadenopathy usually resolves spontaneously within a period of several months, but complications involving central nervous system, liver, spleen, lung, and skin have been seen. Synonym: benign inoculation lymphoreticulosis, benign inoculation reticulosis, cat-scratch fever, regional granulomatous lymphadenitis. (05 Mar 2000) |
