| 설명 | 여러 가지 종류의 기생성 곤충의 총칭. Anoplura 목에 속하며, 포유류에 기생하는 진성 이. 사람에 기생하는 종류는 머리이(Pediculus humanus capitis), 이 또는 옷이(P. humanus corporis), 음모, 겨드랑이털 및 눈썹털에 기생하는 털이(Phthirus pubis)가 있다. 발진티푸스, 회귀열 및 페스트 병원균이 이에 의하여 전파된다. 머리이는 사람의 불결한 머리털에 기생하는데, 알은 머리털의 기부 가까이에 분비물을 분비하여 고착시킨다. 암컷은 1일 3~10알, 일생에 약 300개의 알을 낳고 유충기는 약 10일이다. 이가 기생하면 머리가 가렵고 긁으면 습진 등이 생기기 쉽다. 이는 인간 생활에 따라 앞의 것의 아종에서 분화되었다고 생각되는데 의복에 붙어서 흡혈하고 거기에 산란한다. 현재는 거의 볼 수 없으나 전에는 빈민굴-군대-교도소 등에 만연되어 발진티푸스-회귀열 등의 전염병을 매개하였다. 크림전쟁-발칸전쟁-제1차 세계대전에서는 이로 인한 사망률이 높았다고 한다. 알은 의복의 주름이나 접힌 곳의 섬유에 산란하며 암컷의 산란 수는 평균 1일 10알, 일생 동안 300알쯤을 낳는다. 약 1주일이면 부화하고, 1~3주일이면, 성충이 된다. 기생을 당하면 가렵고 긁으면 두드러기나 피부염을 일으킨다. 세계 각지에 널리 분포하며 지금까지 약 280종이 기록되었다. |
