| glycosyltransferase | <enzyme> Enzymes that catalyze the transfer of glycosyl group to an acceptor. Most often another carbohydrate molecule acts as an acceptor, but inorganic phosphate can also act as an acceptor, such as in the case of phosphorylases. Some of the enzymes in this group also catalyze hydrolysis, which can be regarded as transfer of a glycosyl group from the donor to water. Subclasses include the hexosyltransferases, pentosyltransferases, sialyltransferases, and those transferring other glycosyl groups. Registry number: EC 2.4 Synonym: transglycosylase. (08 Mar 2000) |

| asparagine-N-glycosyltransferase | <enzyme> Involved in glycoprotein biosynthesis Registry number: EC 2.4.1.- (26 Jun 1999) |
| macrolide glycosyltransferase | <enzyme> From streptomyces lividans; utilises udp-glucose as cofactor; substrates include macrolides with 12-, 14-, 15-, or 16-atom cyclic polyketide lactones; enzyme specific for the 2'-oh group of saccharide moieties attached to c-5 of the 16-atom lactone ring Registry number: EC 2.4.1.- Synonym: macrolide glucosyltransferase (26 Jun 1999) |
| glycoprotein glycosyltransferase | <enzyme> Enzymes which add monosaccharides from nucleoside mono-or diphosphate monosaccharides onto glycoproteins Registry number: EC 2.4.1.- (26 Jun 1999) |
| dextrin glycosyltransferase | Dextrin transglycosylase or glycosyltransferase;a 4-glycosyltransferase converting maltodextrins into amylose and glucose by transferring parts of 1,4-glucan chains to new 4-positions on glucose or other 1,4-glucans. Synonym: amylomaltase, D enzyme, dextrin glycosyltransferase, dextrin transglycosylase, disproportionating enzyme. (05 Mar 2000) |
| oligoglucan-branching glycosyltransferase | A glucosyltransferase that transfers an alpha-glucosyl residue in a 1,4-alpha-glucan to the primary hydroxyl group of glucose in a 1,4-alpha-glucan. See: 1,4-alpha-d-glucan branching enzyme. Synonym: oligoglucan-branching glycosyltransferase. (05 Mar 2000) |

| glycosyltransferase |
[EC 2.4] any enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of glycosyl groups from one molecule to another; the glycosyltransferases include the hexosyltransferases (EC 2.4.1), the pentosyltransferases (EC 2.4.2), and those transferring other glycosyl groups (EC 2.4.99). Called also transglycosylase.
