| fissura longitudinalis cerebri | The deep cleft separating the two hemispheres of the cerebrum. Synonym: fissura longitudinalis cerebri, great longitudinal fissure. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|
| fissura cerebri lateralis | The deepest and most prominent of the cortical fissures, extending from the anterior perforated substance first laterally at the deep incisure between the frontal and temporal lobes, then back and slightly upward over the lateral aspect of the cerebral hemisphere, with the superior temporal gyrus as its lower bank, the insula forming its greatly expanded floor. Two short side branches, the ramus anterior and ramus ascendens, divide the inferior frontal gyrus into an orbital part, triangular part, and opercular part. Synonym: sulcus lateralis cerebri, fissura cerebri lateralis, lateral cerebral fissure, sylvian fissure, fissure of Sylvius. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| fissura transversa cerebri | The triangular space between the corpus callosum and fornix above and the dorsal surface of the thalamus below, which is bounded laterally by the choroid fissure of the lateral ventricle, lined by pia mater, and opens caudally into the cistern of the great cerebral vein of the subarachnoid space. Synonym: fissura transversa cerebri. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arcus pedis longitudinalis | See: medial longitudinal arch of foot, lateral longitudinal arch of foot. Synonym: arcus pedis longitudinalis, lateral part of longitudinal arch of foot. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arcus pedis longitudinalis pars lateralis | Formed by calcaneus, cuboid and two lateral metatarsals; the combined arch is supported normally by ligaments, intrinsic muscles, and the tendons of extrinsic muscles of the foot. Synonym: arcus pedis longitudinalis pars lateralis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arcus pedis longitudinalis pars medialis | Formed by the calcaneus, talus, navicular, three cuneiform bones, and the three medial metatarsals. Synonym: arcus pedis longitudinalis pars medialis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| pars lateralis arcus pedis longitudinalis | lateral part of longitudinal arch of foot |
| pars medialis arcus pedis longitudinalis | pars medialis arcus pedis longitudinalis |
| plica longitudinalis duodeni | A fold of mucosa on the medial wall of the descending part of the duodenum above the major duodenal papilla, probably caused by the relation to the common bile duct. Synonym: plica longitudinalis duodeni. (05 Mar 2000) |
| musculus longitudinalis inferior | An intrinsic muscle of the tongue, cylindrical in shape, occupying the underpart on either side; action, shortens the lower part of the tongue; nerve supply, motor by hypoglossal, sensory by lingual. Synonym: musculus longitudinalis inferior, inferior lingual muscle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| musculus longitudinalis superior | An intrinsic muscle of the tongue, running from base to tip on the dorsum just beneath the mucous membrane; action, shortens the upper part of the tongue; nerve supply, motor by hypoglossal, sensory by lingual. Synonym: musculus longitudinalis superior, superficial lingual muscle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| stria longitudinalis lateralis | A thin longitudinal band of nerve fibres accompanied by gray matter, near each outer edge of the upper surface of the corpus callosum under cover of the cingulate gyru. Synonym: stria longitudinalis lateralis, stria tecta, tectal stria. (05 Mar 2000) |
| stria longitudinalis medialis | A thin longitudinal band of nerve fibres accompanied by gray matter, running along the surface of the corpus callosum on either side of the median line. Together with the lateral longitudinal stria it forms part of a thin layer of gray matter on the dorsal surface of the corpus callosum, the indusium griseum, a rudimentary component of the hippocampus. Synonym: stria longitudinalis medialis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ductus epoophori longitudinalis | A rudimentary vestige of the mesonephric duct in the female into which the tubules of the epoophoron open; it is located in the broad ligament of the uterus, parallel with the lateral part of the uterine tube, and in the lateral walls of the cervix and vagina. Synonym: ductus epoophori longitudinalis, ductus deferens vestigialis, Gartner's canal, Gartner's duct. (05 Mar 2000) |
| fasciculus longitudinalis dorsalis | A bundle of thin, poorly myelinated nerve fibres reciprocally connecting the periventricular zone of the hypothalamus with ventral parts of the central gray substance of the midbrain. Synonym: fasciculus longitudinalis dorsalis, Schutz' bundle, tract of Schutz. (05 Mar 2000) |
| fasciculus longitudinalis inferior | A well marked bundle of long association fibres running the whole length of the occipital and temporal lobes of the cerebrum, in part parallel with the inferior horn of the lateral ventricle. Synonym: fasciculus longitudinalis inferior. (05 Mar 2000) |
