fissura hippocampi A shallow groove between the dentate gyrus and the parahippocampal gyrus; the remains of a fissure extending deep into the hippocampus between Ammon's horn and the dentate gyrus which becomes obliterated during foetal development.
Synonym: sulcus hippocampi, dentate fissure, fissura dentata, fissura hippocampi, hippocampal fissure.
(05 Mar 2000)
CancerWEB ¿µ¿µ ÀÇÇлçÀü À¯»ç °Ë»ö °á°ú : 15 ÆäÀÌÁö: 1
alveus hippocampi A thin white band of fornix fibres covering the ventricular surface of the hippocampus.
Synonym: alveus hippocampi.
(05 Mar 2000)
pes hippocampi <anatomy> The anterior thickened extremity of the hippocampus.
Synonym: pes hippocampi, digitationes hippocampi.
(05 Mar 2000)
rudimentum hippocampi A thin layer of gray matter on the dorsal surface of the corpus callosum in which the medial and lateral longitudinal stria lie embedded. The indusium griseum is a rudimentary component of the hippocampus, continuous caudally around the splenium of the corpus callosum with the fasciolar gyrus, a slender convolution in turn continuous with the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus; rostrally the indusium griseum curves around the genu and rostrum of corpus callosum and extends ventralward to the olfactory trigone as the tenia tecta or rudimentum hippocampi, hidden in the depth of the posterior parolfactory sulcus that marks the anterior border of the subcallosal gyrus or precommissural septum.
Synonym: supracallosal gyrus.
(05 Mar 2000)
commissura hippocampi The triangular subcallosal plate of commissural fibres resulting from the converging of the right and left fornix bundles which exchange numerous fibres and which curve back in the contralateral fornix to end in the hippocampus of the opposite side.
Synonym: commissura hippocampi, commissure of fornix, delta fornicis, hippocampal commissure, psalterium, transverse fornix.
(05 Mar 2000)
sulcus hippocampi A shallow groove between the dentate gyrus and the parahippocampal gyrus; the remains of a fissure extending deep into the hippocampus between Ammon's horn and the dentate gyrus which becomes obliterated during foetal development.
Synonym: sulcus hippocampi, dentate fissure, fissura dentata, fissura hippocampi, hippocampal fissure.
(05 Mar 2000)
digitationes hippocampi Synonym: foot of hippocampus.
Origin: Mod. L. Pl. Of digitatio
(05 Mar 2000)
tenia hippocampi A narrow sharp-edged crest of white fibre matter, continuous with the alveus hippocampi, attached to the medial border of the hippocampus; composed of efferent fibres of the hippocampus that form the fornix, fibres of the hippocampal commissure, and septohippocampal fibres.
Synonym: corpus fimbriatum, tenia hippocampi.
(05 Mar 2000)
fascia dentata hippocampi Serrated strip of gray matter under the medial border of the hippocampus and in its depths. It is an archicortex which develops along the edge of the hippocampal fissure and which consists of molecular, granular, and polymorphic layers. The molecular layer is continuous with that of the hippocampus in the depths of the hippocampal fissure. (carpenter and sutin, human neuroanatomy, 8th ed, p626)
(12 Dec 1998)
fimbria hippocampi A narrow sharp-edged crest of white fibre matter, continuous with the alveus hippocampi, attached to the medial border of the hippocampus; composed of efferent fibres of the hippocampus that form the fornix, fibres of the hippocampal commissure, and septohippocampal fibres.
Synonym: corpus fimbriatum, tenia hippocampi.
(05 Mar 2000)
fissura Synonym: fissure.
2. In neuroanatomy, a particularly deep sulcus of the surface of the brain or spinal cord.
Origin: L. Fr. Findo, to cleave
(05 Mar 2000)
fissura antitragohelicina A fissure in the auricular cartilage between the cauda helicis and the antitragus.
Synonym: fissura antitragohelicina.
(05 Mar 2000)
fissura calcarina A deep fissure on the medial aspect of the cerebral cortex, extending on an arched line from the isthmus of the fornicate gyrus back to the occipital pole, marking the border between the lingual gyrus below and the cuneus above it. The cortex in the depth of the sulcus corresponds to the horizontal meridian of the contralateral half of the visual field.
Synonym: sulcus calcarinus, calcarine fissure, fissura calcarina, posthippocampal fissure.
(05 Mar 2000)
fissura cerebri lateralis The deepest and most prominent of the cortical fissures, extending from the anterior perforated substance first laterally at the deep incisure between the frontal and temporal lobes, then back and slightly upward over the lateral aspect of the cerebral hemisphere, with the superior temporal gyrus as its lower bank, the insula forming its greatly expanded floor. Two short side branches, the ramus anterior and ramus ascendens, divide the inferior frontal gyrus into an orbital part, triangular part, and opercular part.
Synonym: sulcus lateralis cerebri, fissura cerebri lateralis, lateral cerebral fissure, sylvian fissure, fissure of Sylvius.
(05 Mar 2000)
fissura choroidea The narrow cleft along the medial wall of the lateral ventricle along the margins of which the choroid plexus is attached; it lies between the upper surface of the thalamus and lateral edge of the fornix in the central part of the ventricle and between the terminal stria and fimbria hippocampi in the inferior horn.
Synonym: fissura choroidea.
(05 Mar 2000)
fissura collateralis A long, deep sagittal fissure on the undersurface of the temporal lobe, marking the border between the fusiform gyrus laterally and the hippocampal and lingual gyri medially; the great depth of the collateral sulcus results in a bulging of the floor of the occipital and temporal horn of the lateral ventricle, the collateral eminence.
Synonym: sulcus collateralis, sulcus occipitotemporalis, collateral fissure, fissura collateralis, occipitotemporal sulcus.
