| vas aberrans hepatis | Blind and/or atrophic bile duct remnants in the fibrous appendix and in the capsule of the liver at the margins of the left lobe and the groove for the inferior vena cava. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| vas aberrans of Roth | An occasional diverticulum of the rete testis or of the efferent ductules of the testis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Monakow | Constantin von, Swiss histologist, 1853-1930. See: Monakow's bundle, Monakow's nucleus, Monakow's syndrome, Monakow's tract. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Monakow's bundle | A somatotopically organised fibre bundle, relatively small in humans, arising from the red nucleus, immediately crossing in the ventral tegmental decussation, descending near the lateral surface of the brainstem into the lateral funiculus of the spinal cord at the ventral border of the lateral pyramidal tract. It terminates in the zona intermedia of the spinal cord where its distribution coincides with that of the lateral pyramidal tract; in contrast to the latter it appears not to have direct connections with spinal motor neurons. Impulses conveyed by this tract indirectly increase flexor muscle tone. Synonym: tractus rubrospinalis, Monakow's bundle, Monakow's tract, prepyramidal tract. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Monakow's nucleus | A cell group lateral to the cuneate nucleus which receives posterior-root fibres corresponding to the proprioceptive innervation of the arm and hand; it projects to the cerebellum by way of the cuneocerebellar tract, and can be considered the upper-extremity equivalent of the thoracic nucleus. Synonym: nucleus cuneatus accessorius, external cuneate nucleus, lateral cuneate nucleus, Monakow's nucleus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Monakow's syndrome | <syndrome> Contralateral hemiplegia, hemianesthesia, and homonomous hemianopsia due to occlusion of the anterior choroidal artery. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Monakow's tract | A somatotopically organised fibre bundle, relatively small in humans, arising from the red nucleus, immediately crossing in the ventral tegmental decussation, descending near the lateral surface of the brainstem into the lateral funiculus of the spinal cord at the ventral border of the lateral pyramidal tract.
| Haller's vas aberrans | A narrow, coiled tubule frequently connected to the first part of the ductus deferens or to the lower part of the ductus epididymitis. Synonym: ductulus aberrans inferior, Haller's vas aberrans. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ductulus aberrans inferior | A narrow, coiled tubule frequently connected to the first part of the ductus deferens or to the lower part of the ductus epididymitis. Synonym: ductulus aberrans inferior, Haller's vas aberrans. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ductulus aberrans superior | A diverticulum from the head of the epididymis. Synonym: ductulus aberrans superior. (05 Mar 2000) |
| anterior pyramidal fasciculus | Uncrossed fibres forming a small bundle in the pyramidal tract. See: pyramidal tract. Synonym: tractus corticospinalis anterior, tractus pyramidalis anterior, anterior corticospinal tract, anterior pyramidal fasciculus, direct pyramidal tract, fasciculus corticospinalis anterior, fasciculus pyramidalis anterior, Turck's bundle, Turck's column, Turck's tract. (05 Mar 2000) |
| arcuate fasciculus | Long association fibre bundle lateral to the centrum ovale of the cerebral hemisphere, connecting the frontal, occipital, and temporal lobes; the fibres pass from the frontal lobe through the operculum to the posterior end of the lateral sulcus where many fibres radiate into the occipital lobe and others turn downward and forward around the putamen and pass to anterior portions of the temporal lobe. Synonym: fasciculus longitudinalis superior, arcuate fasciculus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Burdach's fasciculus | The larger lateral subdivision of the posterior funiculus. Synonym: fasciculus cuneatus, Burdach's column, Burdach's fasciculus, Burdach's tract, cuneate funiculus, wedge-shaped fasciculus. (05 Mar 2000) |
| calcarine fasciculus | A group of short association fibres beneath the calcarine fissure of the occipital lobe of the cerebrum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| macular fasciculus | The collection of fibres in the optic nerve directly connected with the macula lutea. Synonym: fasciculus macularis. (05 Mar 2000) |
