| euglobulin | That fraction of the serum globulin less soluble in (NH4)2SO4 solution than the pseudoglobulin fraction. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| euglobulin clot lysis time | A measure of the ability of plasminogen activators and plasmin to lyse a clot; normally, clot lysis is determined by the balance of factors which activate fibrinolysis (plasminogen activators and plasmin) and those which inhibit lysis; in certain conditions (e.g., carcinoma or hepatic insufficiency) activating factors predominate and can be measured by noting the time it takes the euglobulin fraction of plasma (excluding inhibitors of fibrinolysis) to clot. (05 Mar 2000) |
| euglobulin |
one of a class of globulins characterized by being insoluble in water but soluble in saline solutions; see globulin.

| euglobulin lysis t. |
a test that evaluates for hemorrhagic tendencies by measuring time of fibrinolysis, done by determining the time required to dissolve an incubated clot composed of precipitated plasma euglobulin and exogenous thrombin. Lysis in less than 90 minutes indicates abnormally enhanced fibrinolytic activity.
