| 설명 | 유전 법칙을 응용해서 인간 종족의 개선을 연구하는 학문. 유전학의 한 분야로, 1883년에 영국의 유전학자 골턴이 제창하였다. 인류의 유전적 소질을 향상시키고, 감퇴시키는 사회적 요인을 연구하여 유전적 소질의 개선을 꾀한다. 인류를 유전학적으로 개량할 것을 목적으로 하여 여러 가지 조건과 인자 등을 연구하는 학문. 1883년 영국의 F. 골턴이 처음으로 창시한 학문이다. 원래 유전학-의학-통계학 등을 기초로 하고 있다. 우수 또는 건전한 소질을 가진 인구의 증가를 꾀하고 열악한 유전소질을 가진 인구의 증가를 방지하는 것이 목적이며, 이를 위하여 육체적 또는 정신적 결함을 가진 사람의 발생에 관한 모든 조건과 인자가 연구의 중심이 된다. 이것을 기초로 악성 유전성 질환의 에방을 목적으로 하여 유전성 정신병(정신분열병-조울병 등), 백치 등의 정신박약, 유전성 기형, 혈우병 등의 환자를 강제 또는 임의 단종시키는 우생법안이 제안되어 부분적으로는 여러 나라에서 시행되고 있으나 그 운용에는 아직도 논의가 반복되고 있다. |
