Word used to describe abnormal cells. Means the nucleus of a cell looks abnormal. Mild, moderate and severe dyskaryosis are three levels of abnormality found on cervical smear. None of these are cancer. They are all phases of pre-cancerous cells which could go on to develop into cancer if left untreated.
