| 설명 | 사람이 근육 하나를 움직일때 사용하는 신경연결을 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 우선 대뇌에 있는 운동을 관장하는 곳인 운동겉질에서의 명령이 떨어지면 이것은 척수를 타고 계속해서 내려오게 된다. 그리고 척수에서 한번 신경세포를 바꾸어서 말초신경 근육에 가서 근육을 움직인다. 즉 대뇌에서 떨어진 명령이 신경세포 하나를 타고 척수까지 가고 척수에서 한 번 신경을 바꾸어 근육으로 간다. 척수에서 시작하여 근육까지 가는 신경 세포를 앞뿔세포라고 한다. 원인 미상인 이 병은 앞뿔세포의 소실에 의해서 그것의 지배를 받는 근육의 위축이 나타나는 것을 주증상으로 한다. 이 병에 특효가 있는 치료법은 아직 없다. |

| 설명 | 신경축삭을 둘러싸고 있는 말이집(myelin sheath)의 파괴로 인한 병적상태를 말함. 파괴된 말이집은 흉터를 남기게 되어 신경축삭을 통한 신경전달이 제대로 되지 않아 운동, 감각, 자율신경 모두의 신경전달장애가 나타난다. 이 병터는 어디서나 나타날 수 있어서 그 장애가 나타나는 부위에 따라 서로 다른 증상을 호소한다. |

| disseminated cutaneous leishmaniasis | Leishmaniasis caused by several New and Old World species and strains of Leishmania (L. Mexicana amazonensis, L. M. Pifanoi, possibly L. M. Garnhami and L. M. Venezuelensis; in Ethiopia, L. Aethiopica, and unidentified leishmanial agents in Namibia and Tanzania). The condition is associated with a suppressed cell-mediated immune response, so that the non-ulcerating, non-necrotizing cutaneous lesions can spread widely over the body; great numbers of parasite-filled macrophages are found in the dermal lesions. Healing does not appear to occur unless an acquired cellular hypersensitivity can develop. | disseminated tuberculosis | <microbiology> Usually a chronic tuberculosis infection where spread of the original primary infection has occurred via the patients lymphatic system (or bloodstream). Disseminated disease occurs primarily in the immunocompromised individual (for example AIDS, cancer patient). The elderly are at increased risk for dissemination. In disseminated disease, organs and tissues that can be affected include pericardium, peritoneum, larynx, bronchus, bone, joints, lymph nodes, stomach, meninges, eyes, kidneys and skin.
