| descensus uteri | Downward movement of the uterus due to laxity and atony of the muscular and fascial structures of the pelvic floor, usually resulting from injuries of childbirth or advanced age; prolapse occurs in three forms, first degree prolapse, the cervix of the prolapsed uterus is well within the vaginal orifice, second degree prolapse, the cervix is at or near the introitus, third degree prolapse (procidentia uteri), the cervix protrudes well beyond the vaginal orifice. Synonym: descensus uteri, falling of the womb. (05 Mar 2000) |

| appendix ventriculi laryngis | A small diverticulum provided with mucous glands extending upward from the ventricle of the larynx between the vestibular fold and the lamina of the thyroid cartilage; it is a vestigial structure, being a much larger structure interdigitating with the neck musculature in some of the great apes where it serves as a resonating chamber. Synonym: sacculus laryngis, appendix ventriculi laryngis, Hilton's sac, laryngeal pouch. Origin: L. Sacculus (05 Mar 2000) |
| ramus choroidei ventriculi lateralis | Lateral ventrical branch of anterior choroid artery. See: choroid branches. (05 Mar 2000) |

| vena coronaria ventriculi | <anatomy, vein> Arises from a union of veins from both surfaces of the cardia of the stomach and an oesophageal tributary from the cardiac portion of the oesophagus; it runs in the lesser omentum and empties into the portal vein. See: oesophageal veins. Synonym: vena gastrica sinistra, coronary vein, vena coronaria ventriculi. (05 Mar 2000) |
| vena posterior ventriculi sinistri | Arises on the diaphragmatic surface of the heart near the apex, runs to the left and parallel to the posterior interventricular sulcus, and empties in the coronary sinus. Synonym: vena posterior ventriculi sinistri. (05 Mar 2000) |
| vena recessus lateralis ventriculi quarti | A small vein originating in the cerebellar tonsil, coursing by the lateral recess of the fourth ventricle on its way to terminate in the petrosal vein. Synonym: vein of lateral recess of fourth ventricle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| vena ventriculi lateralis lateralis | A vein draining deep portions of the temporal and parietal lobes; it runs in the lateral wall of the lateral ventricle to terminate in the superior thalamostriate vein. Synonym: vena ventriculi lateralis lateralis, lateral atrial vein, lateral vein of lateral ventricle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| vena ventriculi lateralis medialis | A vein that drains deep portions of the parietal and occipital lobes; it runs in the medial wall of the lateral ventricle to empty into the internal cerebral vein or the great cerebral vein. Synonym: vena ventriculi lateralis medialis, medial atrial vein, medial vein of lateral ventricle. (05 Mar 2000) |
| recessus lateralis ventriculi quarti | The narrow recess of the ventricle that extends laterally over, and down along the side of, the inferior cerebellar peduncle and the overlying cochlear nuclei; at its tip it opens by way of Luschka's foramen into the interopeduncular cistern of the subarachnoid space. By way of this recess, part of the choroid plexus of the fourth ventricle protrudes into the subarachnoid space. Synonym: recessus lateralis ventriculi quarti. (05 Mar 2000) |
