A technique using electric current to accelerate the movement of antigen and antibody in a diffusion medium. Antigens are strongly negative and migrate quickly towards the anode; antibodies are less negative and migrate in the opposite direction (to the cathode). If the antibody is specific for the antigen, they will combine and form a distinct precipitin line.
