| 설명 | 콩팥위에 있는 삼각뿔의 형태를 지닌 기관인 부신의 겉부분인 겉질에서 만들어지는 물질로 호르몬의 일종. 코르티고스테로이드는 그 역할에 따라서 다음과 같은 3가지로 나누어진다. 1.글루코코르티코이드(glucocorticoid)-지방질, 당질, 단백질의 대사에 관계하는 호르몬. 지방질과 단백질을 분해해서 당질을 만드는 역할을 하고 또 체내에 저장되어 있는 당질을 혈액속으로 배출하는 역할을 하는 호르몬. 부신겉질에서 만들어지는 당류코르티코이드는 대부분 코르티솔(cortisol)이라는 물질이다. 2.광물코르티코이드(mineralocorticoid)-체내의 전해질과 수분의 조절에 관여하는 호르몬. 콩팥에 작용하여 수분과 나트륨의 배설을 억제하여 수분, 나트륨의 체내 양을 증가시키는 역할을 한다. 3.에스트로겐, 안드로겐-성호르몬으로 성의 분화나 여러 가지 생식에 관련된 역할을 한다. 알아두어야 할 것은 부신겉질에서 생산된 위의 3가지 호르몬은 정확히 기능의 구분이 있는 것이 아니고 다른 호르몬의 작용도 가지고 있는 수가 많다. 즉 글루코코르티코이드도 약간의 광물코르티코이드의 역할이 있고, 광물코르티코이드도 약간의 광물코르티코이드의 역할이 있다. |

| corticosteroid | <drug, endocrinology, pharmacology> Any of the steroids elaborated by the adrenal cortex (excluding the sex hormones of adrenal origin) in response to the release of adrenocorticotrophin or adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) by the pituitary gland, to any of the synthetic equivalents of these steroids or to angiotensin II. They are divided, according to their predominant biological activity, into three major groups: glucocorticoids (e.g. Cortisol, cortisone), chiefly influencing carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism, mineralocorticoids (for example aldosterone), affecting the regulation of electrolyte and water balance and C19 androgens. Some corticosteroids exhibit both types of activity in varying degrees and others exert only one type of effect. The corticosteroids are used clinically for hormonal replacement therapy, for suppression of ACTH secretion by the anterior pituitary, as antineoplastic, antiallergic and anti-inflammatory agents and to suppress the immune response.
