| 설명 | 근육수축과 관련하여 단축과 긴장이 생긴 것을 뜻한다. 즉, 생체구조나 생활물질이 특정한 방향으로 능동적인 단축을 보이는 현상 또는 작용을 말한다. 동물 근육세포의 수축은 이것이 극도로 발달한 것이다. 근육이 수축할 때는 그 부피가 실제로는 거의 감소하지 않는다. 이것에는 연축과 그 합성에 의하여 생기는 강축으로 구별된다. 또 장력이 같은 수축과 길이가 같은 수축으로도 구별된다. |

| contraction stress test |
a test where the baby's heart rate response to oxytocin is measured. The mother is given some intravenous oxytocin and the baby is monitored via electronic fetal monitors to check the response. Must be performed where all parties can be carefully monitored should fetal distress or true labor be triggered.
