| clusterin |
a multifunctional glycoprotein with roles in the metabolism and transport of lipids and membrane fragments, secretion of hormones, reproductive biology, inhibition of assembly of the membrane attack complex of complement activation, programmed cell death, and modulation of inter-cell interactions; its expression is enhanced in tissue injury and remodeling as well as in degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and scrapie. Called also SP-40,40.
