1. one of the dense accumulations of RNA found in the cysts of certain amebae (eg, Entamoeba species), manifested as a deeply staining rodlike body. Called also chromatoid bar. 2. a dense chromatoid mass near the distal centriole of a spermatozoon, from which the so-called ring centriole seemingly arises.
